Backhand Diagonal Poach

Let’s say you’re involved in a rally at the non-volley line and the ball comes to you fairly high to your backhand side. This is an opportunity for a fairly easy to perform yet somewhat spectacular shot. Hit that ball with a short punching backhand at a severe diagonal. So, if you are right-handed, the ball is coming to your left at shoulder height or higher. You reach across the center line, poaching into your partner’s territory, and punch that ball resolutely to your right. You’ll win the point at it bounces off the kitchen floor at a severe angle!
